Short courses

Furniture Making Short Course (5 Days Monday - Friday)

The teaching is centred on practical furniture projects suited to the student's level of competence and confidence. A focus of the course is the making of a piece of furniture, which is normally acheived by the end.

Beginners

At this level, no prior knowledge or skills in furniture making is assumed. Students are taken from the basic understanding of tools and materials through to the making of a furniture project

Intermediate

This course is for students who have progressed from the Beginners Level, and who wish to further their skills and understanding of furniture making.

Advanced

Suitable for those students who have a clear understanding of furniture making, and wish to extend their skills by making an advanced piece of furniture.

Short Course Fee

The tuition fee for a 5 day short course is £425.

Woodworking Machine Awareness Course (1 Day)

This course is suitable for practitioners working in their workshops, teachers, technicians, and for those involved in the setting up, operation, and maintenance of wood working machinery.

With regard to the machine woodworking regulations and current good practice, the course will cover safe working practice on the following machines:

  • Cross cut saw
  • Table saw
  • Surface planer
  • Thicknesser
  • Narrow band saw
  • Woodturning lathe
  • Pillar drill

A Machine Woodworking H&S Awareness Certificate is awarded at the end of this course.
